1. Clinical & Regulatory Compliance Charter

Standards Overview

Denturaa and its operating dental clinics (serving patients across Birmingham, London, Manchester, Bristol, Nottingham, and Leeds) operate under strict adherence to UK healthcare and consumer protection legislation.

We maintain rigorous oversight to ensure full compliance across core UK healthcare and regulatory frameworks: statutory professional dental standards, the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA), the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR), and the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).

2. UK Professional Dental Standards & Clinical Governance

Professional Standards Pillar

Statutory regulations govern dental professionals in the UK to protect the public. All clinical care across our clinics adheres to national Standards for the Dental Team (Principles 1 through 9):

  • Principle 1: Put patients' interests first at all times.
  • Principle 2: Communicate effectively with patients, providing clear explanations of treatment options, realistic expectations, and transparent costs.
  • Principle 3: Obtain valid, voluntary, and documented consent before any examination or procedure begins.
  • Principle 4: Maintain and protect patients' confidentiality and healthcare records securely.
  • Principle 5: Maintain a clear, accessible, and effective complaints procedure with external escalation via the Dental Complaints Service (DCS).
  • Principle 6: Work with dental surgeons, clinical dental technicians, and laboratory colleagues in the patient's best interest.
  • Principle 7: Maintain and develop professional knowledge, skills, and mandatory continuing professional development (CPD).
  • Principle 8: Raise concerns immediately if patients, staff, or the public are at risk.
  • Principle 9: Ensure personal and professional conduct maintains public trust in the dental profession.
  • Professional Qualifications: All clinicians maintain verified professional credentials and statutory qualifications.

3. Healthcare Quality & Clinical Safety Standards

Healthcare Quality Pillar

All clinic premises operate under strict healthcare governance and are maintained against high fundamental standards of patient care:

  • Safe Care and Treatment: Clinical assessments, infection control, and procedures are delivered safely by qualified staff.
  • Cleanliness & Infection Control (HTM 01-05): Rigorous compliance with Department of Health Health Technical Memorandum 01-05 decontamination standards, autoclave sterilization, and cross-contamination barriers.
  • Good Governance: Secure patient record management, clinical audit trails, and strict data confidentiality protocols.
  • Duty of Candour: A commitment to openness and honesty. If any unintended incident occurs that causes or could cause moderate or severe harm, we inform the patient immediately, apologize in writing, and provide remedial support.

4. Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) & CAP Code Honesty

ASA / CAP Code

Denturaa is committed to honest, evidence-based, and transparent public communication under the UK Code of Non-broadcast Advertising (CAP Code Sections 3 & 11) administered by the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA):

  • Transparent Free Consultation: The initial 30-minute appointment booked via our Google Calendar schedule is a complimentary clinical assessment and treatment suitability evaluation. It carries zero obligation to proceed with treatment.
  • Written Itemised Quotes: No treatment or fabrication commences without a clear, written, itemised treatment plan and quote provided to the patient in advance.
  • Substantiated Clinical Claims: We do not make misleading claims of 'universal unbreakable dentures' or 'guaranteed permanent suction' without clinical examination, recognizing that anatomical ridge form, tissue resilience, and salivary flow influence prosthetic retention.
  • Custom Medical Devices (MDR): All dentures and dental appliances are custom-made medical devices compliant with the UK Medical Devices Regulations 2002 (UKCA / CE marked materials) manufactured by registered dental laboratories.

5. UK GDPR, Data Protection Act 2018 & ICO Supervision

GDPR & ICO Pillar

We safeguard patient privacy and personal health information in full accordance with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR), the Data Protection Act 2018, and Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) directives:

  • ICO Registration: Registered with the Information Commissioner's Office as data controllers under the Data Protection (Charges and Information) Regulations 2018.
  • Lawful Processing & Special Category Data: Processing of dental health records is conducted under Article 6(1)(b) (contractual care) and Article 9(2)(h) (healthcare management) by registered healthcare professionals bound by professional secrecy.
  • Dental Health Record Retention: Adult clinical dental records are maintained for a minimum of 11 years following treatment completion in line with NHS / Department of Health Records Management guidelines.
  • Subject Access Requests (DSAR): Patients can request a complete copy of their personal and clinical records free of charge within one calendar month.
  • Zero Clinical Health Data in Advertising: We strictly prohibit the transmission of patient health data, dental diagnoses, or clinical notes to advertising algorithms or third-party pixels.
  • ICO Contact: Patients have the right to lodge a complaint with the ICO at Wycliffe House, Water Lane, Wilmslow, Cheshire, SK9 5AF | 0303 123 1113 | https://ico.org.uk.
